“ This place was insanely delicious, while I did not agree with their salsa wall ratings of hot, medium, or mild, I thought the most mild was the hottest! But I am a baby. Other than that it was delicious, the elotes were my absolute favorite, but we tried the pollo, barbacoa, asada, al pastor, and a burrito. The asada was the favorite of them all, Al pastor was a bit spicy for me, my husband loved it though. Also the margaritas were delicious! We went back twice and it would have been three times if they were open later after the 8123 fest. ”
“ First time patrons at the taco chiwas. Impressed with the dive bar type atmosphere in downtown mesa. Burritos and taco and quesidilla were really superior. Will be back. Wont order a Marguerita unfortunately as they appear to be much too expensive or there was a mistake on my billing. Draft beer was only 7 but two Margueritas came out to 37. The reciept said double and tall. They werent unless this is how chiwas describes regular glasses. I didnt really notice at the time but now I am questioning how much I paid. Over all my impression of the place is very positive. Love the location downtown. Love the vibe, love the eclectic mix of patrons. Will be back but not for the Margueritas. ”
“ Cant say enough good things about the Chiwas crew. Theres nothing like a good tortilla for your taco, the protein flavor on point and the salsa being fire spicy but delicious . To top it off, that spicy cucumber Margarita was perfection. I felt like I went to my hometown for a good damn taco and thats all I have to say. Cant wait to be back. ”
“ We sat on the patio, inside gets a little loud but it was a cool place. Service was fast and very friendly. Food was great, very flavorful, good portions for the price. Salsa bar was a good variety. Shrimp tacos were my favorite on this visit, highly recommend them. ”

“ Let me start by saying I love tacos. It may sound strange but we have a huge taco culture in Kansas City. Ive eaten many Delicious, authentic tacos there. That said, the tacos here at Taco Chiwas were phenomenal. The Carnitas were full of flavor and super juicy, the Pastor had great flavor with a hint of pineapple and the Barbacoa were also packed with flavor. They came just as they should have with the corn tortilla, cilantro and onions. I liked the extra hot sauce on them. Great meal! ”
“ Absolutely delicious and a great value for the price! The taco chiwas was my favorite but I will be back to try more. The sauces at the sauce bar all had amazing flavor too, the green sauce being my favorite. The beans with cheese were also delicious! Not to mention they have a decent selection of draft beer and a good bar too. ”
“ We were walking down Main street and decided to stop into Taco Chiwas. It was around noon so still a little early. There were still quite a few tables available when we got there, but it filled up really quickly. We sat at the bar and I grabbed a guava Jaritos from the cooler. My partner had an ice tea. The bar tender was really sweet and very efficient running the whole front house. I ordered the 3 taco plate. I chose carne asada, al pastor, and the veggie. They were so good that I devoured 2 before taking a pic! My favorite out of the three was the veggie taco. I was pleasantly surprised at how yummy it was. I couldve ate 10 more! We will definitely be back the next time were near downtown to try their margaritas. ”
